If you’re an iPad owner, and weight matters a lot to you, then you have probably been waiting for the official announcement about the new iPad Mini. We are already hearing rumors about the “iPad Mini 2“, especially since we know that some new pieces of hardware will be announced soon. While nothing official is out – of course – there have been many speculations based on “reputable” sources.
When it comes to the iPad Mini Retina, though, it seems that we just might have to hold our breaths a little longer. While I have to admit that I have been rather selective in reading rumors about the iPad Mini Retina (only because I want to believe that it will come out this year), a report from Reuters last week kind of burst my bubble.
Based on the “testimonies” of people who are part of Apple’s supply chain (yeah, that narrows the source down, doesn’t it?), “Apple will be unable to widely roll out a new version of the iPad Mini with a high-resolution “retina” display this month, leaving the gadget without the sharper screen found on rival tablets from Google Inc and Amazon.com Inc.”
Understandably, people who are really hoping for the iPad Mini Retina will zone in on the detail that the report mentions a “wide roll out”, which implies that a roll out might be imminent, albeit limited. Then again, other details also highlight the probability that the year 2013 will not see that resolutionary display on the tablet that is every inch an iPad.
While it’s a tad disappointing, it’s not like Apple has not treated its fans to new, shiny pieces of hardware this year with the iPhone 5C and 5S. There’s also the new OS, Mavericks, the GM version of which is already available to developers. There’s lot to keep busy with while we wait, yeah?
What’s your call? Are we going to see the iPad Mini Retina this year?
