After promising Facebook Messenger on Windows Phone at MWC, Facebook has finally brought the service to the platform today.

While some people were expecting the app to be available only after Windows Phone 8.1 was released, clearly, that isn’t the case. Although Windows Phone already comes with Facebook integration, that allows users to see their conversations in the Messages, this would surely be a welcome addition to most. The app comes with several features including:
  • Get to all your messages without having to open Facebook.
  • Bring your conversations to life with stickers and send photos privately.
  • Have group conversations and make plans on the go.
  • Share your location so people know when you’re nearby.
  • Know when people have seen your messages.
  • See who’s using Messenger and who’s active on Facebook.
  • Stay logged in so you never miss a message.
  • Turn off notifications when you’re working, sleeping or just need a break.
  • Never lose your conversation history or contacts.
There’s no sign of Chat Heads, but we don’t think it would fit well with the overall layout of the OS, but that doesn’t mean we might not see it in a future update. Unlike the official Facebook app for Windows Phone, this one has been published by Facebook instead of Microsoft. The app is available for free and can be picked from the Windows Phone Store here. You can also scan the QR code below from your Windows Phone.
