Microsoft SkyDrive is now called OneDrive. The service is similar to 
Dropbox or Google Drive except that Microsoft is giving away Gigabytes

 which is merely a rename of their SkyDrive service which got into 
trouble with a company brand name. Today Microsoft rolled out the 
OneDrive update for its apps on Windows Phone,

want to use the new OneDrive, here is some exciting news for you. 
Microsoft is offering free 100GB storage space when you sign up or sign

Two men have been arrested in California for stealing naked phots to post on their revenge porn website.<br />

The U.S. authorities made the arrest following an FBI investigation, 
where it was discovered that the men were hacking in to email accounts, 
stealing the photos and then loading them on to the site without the 
victim’s permission.<br />

Hunter Moore, 27 and Charles Evens, 24, are charged with conspiracy, 
unauthorized access to a protected computer to obtain information and 
aggravated identity theft.<br />

The court documents show that the website belonged to Mr Moore. He is
 said to have paid Mr Evens to hack in to email accounts in order to 
obtain the hundreds of naked photos for the website.<br />

This isn’t the first time that Mr Moore has had a brush with the law.
 Back in March he was ordered to pay $250,000 in damages as a result of a
 civil lawsuit, where he was accused of making false claims against 
James McGibney, chief executive to an anti-bullying website.<br />

If found guilty of these latest charges relating to the revenge porn 
website, then Mr Moore and Mr Evens could face decades in prison.<br />

That came after BSkyB won the 
trademark case against Microsoft claiming SkyDrive infringed upon the 
Sky brand in European Union and the UK.<br />

The transition to the new branding should affect any services for the
 end users and they’ll continue to perform as they should. Microsoft 
 hasn’t given a timeline for the complete change, but we should see the 
changes appearing in the coming days.<br />

The Ministry of Science has
 said in a statement to AFP, “We helped fuel national growth with 2G 
services in the 1990s, 3G in the 2000s and 4G around 2010. Now it is 
time to take pre-emptive action to develop 5G…Countries in Europe, China
 and the US are making aggressive efforts to develop 5G technology … and
 we believe there will be fierce competition in this market in a few 
years.”  The new 5G networks could allow users to download an 800 MB 
film in one second and would allow passengers on bullet trains 
travelling at speeds of 500 kph (310mph) to access Internet services, 
(the current limit is 300kph).<br />

The government hopes to establish a trial of 5G in the next 3 years 
and priority will be given to developing features such as hologram 
transmission and Ultra HD Video.  The government claims that related 
industries will benefit from the rollout and they predict that 
operators, equipment makers and manufacturers could generate sales of 
331 trillion won in the first 6 years after rollout.<br />

The Ministry of Science hopes to enlist the support of tech giants Samsung and LG,
 but also wants to help the nation’s network equipment industry, which 
commands a far smaller worldwide market share than its device makers, 
which control 30 percent of the market – mainly through the Samsung 
brand.  Samsung itself are working on 5G technology and last year 
announced it had achieved speeds of 1Gbps using millimetre wave 
bands (these are frequencies around 28GHz), using adaptive array 
transceivers.<br />

South Korea is already one of the most connected countries on the 
planet and has been a world leader in 4G adoption rates; now the 
Ministry of Science says it is taking “pre-emptive” action to gain a 
head start over its Asian, European and US rivals in 5G developments.<br />

A group of research scientists from Philips and several European

Project leader for RoboEarth, Rene van de Molengraft, said: “At its 
core RoboEarth is a world wide web for robots: a giant network and 
database repository where robots can share information and learn from 
each other.”<br />

The whole point of the system is to provide robots (and humans) with a
 cloud-based database, on to which information can be loaded and then it
 can act like a common brain for machines.<br />

“The problem right now is that robots are often developed 
specifically for one task,” said Molengraft. “A task like opening a box 
of pills can be shared on RoboEarth, so other robots can also do it 
without having to be programmed for that specific type of box,” he 
added.<br />

A cloud-based system such as this will mean that in the future robots
 will need less on-board computing and battery capacity, as some of the 
computing tasks will be off-loaded on to the cloud.<br />

There is concern over the dangers of robots developing their own 
intelligence. James Barratt, an author who has written of these dangers,
 says there needs to be protective measures in place.<br />

“In the longer term, watch out when any of the nodes can evolve or 
otherwise improve their own software. The consequences of sharing that 
capability with the central ‘mind’ should be explored before it 
happens,” he said.<br />

this month at the LeWeb conference in Paris, Engineering Director for Google, Scott Huffman, outlined the company’s plans for the future of search.<br />

Google knows that things don’t stay the same forever, with peoples’ 
expectations changing and evolving. According to Huffman, the company 
want to move away from the traditional looking search results and create
 something that looks smarter and that actually looks more like a 
personal assistant. In fact, Huffman even said that in his view Google’s
 goal is to create the ultimate personal assistant. He said in the 
future searching will be about making  “all your tasks as you go through
 the day simpler and quicker.”<br />

The company want to create a search experience that more resembles 
interaction and conversation. It has been working on a type of 
back-and-forth conversation for a while and with the use of Knowledge 
Graph, Google is improving at finding out what its users’ intentions 
are. The combination of voice recognition and the fact that Google Now 
can handle 38 languages and knows more than 18 billion facts along with 
the connections, is what will build the Google Search of the future.<br />

Taking the concept even further, it could be that any interactions 
will not neccessarily need a screen. Huffman feels that the car is a 
fantastic opportunity for the new style Google Search. He also thinks it
 would work well in a living room, where microphones and speakers could 
wait for your “ok Google” command.<br />

Huffman stressed that for all of this to work, the ultimate assistant
 needs to do more than converse and that’s where Google Now plays its 
part. Knowing your habits, preferences and reservations, which can be 
discovered through a Gmail inbox, is what will create the ultimate 
personal assistant.<br />

At the moment Google is working on how to build on top of this 
platform and is looking at how to overcome “lots of tricky questions”. 
It could be that we see it opened up for developers but however Google 
achieves the ultimate Search, the future certainly looks interesting.<br />

But, did you know that people actually get caught and are punished for torrenting?<br />

Take this guy from Sweden. According to <a href="http://torrentfreak.com/torrent-site-uploader-ordered-to-pay-625000-for-sharing-one-movie-131217/" target="_blank">Torrent Freak</a>:<br />

uploader of one of Sweden’s oldest but now defunct private torrent sites
 has been hit with a huge damages award. For uploading a single 
pre-release movie the 28-year-old is now required to pay $652,000, the 
equivalent amount the studio would have charged for a license to 
distribute the movie for free. For sharing more than 500 others he 
received a suspended jail sentence plus 160 hours community service.</blockquote>

It’s rather notable that the fine – more than half a million dollars –
 is only for ONE movie. For the other movies he had shared, his 
punishment is “merely” community service.<br />

Now, if you’re thinking that you have not done anything of this sort 
for years, you probably should not sit back and relax just yet. The 
unlucky guy is facing the consequences of his actions many years back. 
He used to be a moderator and uploader from April 2008 and November 
2011. Many years later, he has been dubbed “Sweden’s “worst ever” 
individual movie pirate”. And the law has caught up with him.<br />

It does seem that this case is being highlighted as an example. There
 are obviously many other individuals who have done the same thing, 
whether on a smaller or larger scale, it doesn’t matter.<br />

It seems that Google wants a finger in every technology pie. It has

Using ARM technologgy, Google hope to better manage the interface 
between its hardware and software, claims the report. It also states 
that this potential move by Google, could prove to be a threat to 
Intel’s current market dominaton, especially seeing as Google is Intel’s

Google hasn’t confirmed or denied
 anything yet but has said: “We are actively engaged in designing the 
world’s best infrastructure. This includes both hardware design (at all 
levels) and software design.”<br />

ARM-based chips are used mainly in the mobile sector but AMD has 
announced that it does plan to implement the ARM architecture within the
 server market.<br />

Google has shown that it does have some interest in the chip market. 
In August it joined a group which licenses technology used in data 
centers, including chips for servers.<br />

It will be interesting to see how this one develops and whether Google will continue to pursue this.<br />
