iTunes on Android. Sounds almost impossible, right? Well, not quite.
If a report on Billboard is to be believed, Apple is considering
bringing the iTunes to Android.
The reason behind the supposed move is the company’s double digit decline in the US download sales at Apple’s iTunes Music Store, which happens to be the largest music retailer in the country.
The talks have emerged after digital album sales in the US are down 13 percent, while digital track sales are down 11 percent from last year, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Although, streaming services like Spotify and YouTube have seen tremendous growth in the same period. Moving to a subscription based model could change the way Apple generates its revenue.
Of course, having iTunes on Android would mean opening up to millions of customers worldwide. Although, the service will have stiff competition from the likes of Pandora, Spotify and Google’s own music services. How things finally shape up remains to be seen.
