Along with Cortana, which we covered earlier today, few more features was announced today at the Build. Here is the list:
- Bing Search now can look into your phone for data. This means you should be able to search anything in your phone which could be our contact or an appointment.
- New Lock Screen which has been re-imagined to show up your appointment, swipable, according to upcoming days, date, message, email count, appointments and so on.
- Action Centre: Finally a notification center which allows you can turn on or off settings and so on. You also can check on notification from apps.
- Swipe Keyboard just like the Nokia X but only works with Alphabets and not with numbers. It holds the world record to be the fastest keyboard against swipe by 8 seconds.
- Internet Explorer:
- Stop and Refresh are now built into the address bar.
- Favourites / Add to Favourites, Find n Page and so on are now on top.
- Data Sense savings now appear here which allows you to override your settings in the Data Sense App. You can choose between high, standard, off or automatic.
- You can change Font Settings and reading styles between dark and light.
- New Feature, Sync My Settings lets you sync themes, app settings, IE and Password across devices which means including Windows 8.1
- In-Private browsing can be accessed via the new tab feature which allows anybody to use their username and password on any account and website on a temporary basis.
- Podcast App:
- Now there is a dedicated app for Podcast.
- Favourites, Collections, Search Option to find and add to podcast collection.
- Add, Share or Play the podcast before adding it up.
- Possible to add individual podcast episodes, mark them as played and so on.
- Individual Podcasts cane be controlled nicely.
- Choose to download only over WIFI which will put it under “downloading” when you do it on mobile network.
- It is possible to disable live streaming and set it for only downloading. This works with data sense which makes sure you do have control over bandwidth.
- Control on several episodes you wanted to keep. This makes sure you know how much you are ready to spend on the storage.
- New Default Camera App: Since Nokia Camaera app is
not available on all Windows Phone, Microsoft updated the default
camera app so the new players joining the Windows Phone devices team can
get a benefit.
- Quick Access to various settings like recent photo, change ISO, change lenses, scenes which includes close-up, night, sports, backlight and auto.
- A new mode, named as Burst Mode, is introduced along with camera and video mode.
- Tap to focus instead of tap to take picture which can be changed from the settings.
- All the quick buttons are configurable from the menu bar and can be replaced by something else.
- Integrated Skype: You can no switch to Skype call from mobile call immediately which is definitely an awesome feature.
- Playlist: It is possible to edit your playlists and manage your cloud collection really easily and effectively.
- WiFi Sense will let you automatically login to password based networks.
- Storage Sense to move your apps, music and Videos to SD card.
