After a long while, Samsung has shown that it hasn’t forgotten Windows Phone completely. the company has launched a new Windows Phone device called the ATIV SE on Verizon, and it’s got everything to take on the likes of the Lumia Icon (or Lumia 930).
The phone looks like an upgraded version of the Galaxy S4, packing a Snapdragon 800 quad core processor inside clocked at 2.23GHz. The phone packs the same 5 inch Super AMOLED display as the Galaxy S4 with 1080p resolution. Then, there’s also 2GB RAM, 13MP camera on the back, 2MP front shooter, 16GB onboard storage, expandable memory slot and a 2,600mAh battery. The phone will be running on Windows Phone 8 at launch and should get updated to Windows Phone 8.1 at a later point in time.
The phone is available for $199.99 on a two year contract on Verizon. It can also be purchased outright for a price of $599.99. Verizon is running a promotional campaign where users can get a phone of equal worth (including another ATIV SE, HTC One (M8) or Galaxy S5) free on purchase of the phone on a two year contract.
No word on when (if at all) the phone will see an international launch.
