It’s not that Indians don’t love the iPhone, it’s just that their hefty price tag makes it out of the reach for most (you can get a decent scooter for the price of the iPhone 5s here). As such, Apple has had limited success in the country, which is primarily dominated by cheap Androids from local manufacturers.

Apple realizes the opportunity that the market provides and isn’t giving up just yet. As a part of that strategy, the company is planning to relaunch the iPhone 4 in India as a low-mid range handset.
Compared to the old price of Rs 26,000 (approx. $430), the company would be launching the 8GB version of the phone at around Rs 15,000 (close to $250) though buyback schemes and EMI offers. The company had a successful runs with the phone in the country before discontinuing it once the iPhone 5s and 5c were announced. At Rs 15,000 Apple could attract a huge consumer base who otherwise opt for entry level droids that, let’s admit it, don’t give the best user experience.
The phone is expected to go on sale again as early as next week.
