This technology has been making rounds on the internet for a long time but nothing has been surfaced as yet. Apple has remained to be passive in terms of sending clues to its potential customers. We get most of the clues from its suppliers.
In the recent past, an iWatch and curved iPhone have been the most popular products from the drawer of Apple. These products are still in the pipeline for launching in the year 2014. Both these devices will be equipped with a curved display. This is a feature that has been missing from Apple’s devices for a long time.
Corning is one of the pivotal suppliers of Apple and it has been playing an important role of being a supplier for many other smartphone and tablet manufacturing companies. Corning has given the customers a very important info. It announced that the company is working on the development of curved version of Gorilla Glass which will be featured in 2014 in the market.  After this announcement, a lot of rumors and speculations have followed that point towards Apple’s take on Curved Glass.

When it came to the manufacturing of iPhone, Gorilla glass played an important role. After Gorilla Glass featured in the earlier version of iPhone, Steve Jobs had asked Corning to make a super hard glass for the next variants of iPhone. This material was originally used by the fighter jets in 1960’s. They were employed in the cockpits of the planes. The Plexiglass surprise by Apple has been blanketed with the surge of the “Gorilla Glass” idea. It might go on and do the same stuff for iPhone and iWatch too.
The new generations of mobile handsets that are being featured in the market are most likely to possess curved displays and they will be equipped with a stronger glass. It will be used for daily jobs and there would be no worries about its breakage. Apple is expected to endorse such glass in its next devices. The product manager of Corning’s 3D Shaped Gorilla Glass, Scott Forester has claimed that the new technique that will be employed in the making of Gorilla glass will help the developers to make it at a cheaper price. The glass will be able to bend for 75-80 degrees and it could turn into any shape that the user desires.

The recent upbringing is expected to send a wave of competition to the other rivals such as Samsung and LG that are also working on curved smartphone displays. This glass may well be a good replacement for plastic and metal bezels used to case the device. The buttons situated on the front portion will be taken to the side panels which is good news too. The new induction by Apple will totally change the way users interact with their phones currently. Forester also added that there will be a tool kit available which will unlock a few more designs that the user likes.
Forester gave the media fair bit of info but he declined to be having any confirmation from Apple about endorsing such a glass. He did not mention whether Apple is their customer or not. However, he stated that a lot of manufacturers have been demanding this tech in the market as they want to bring a revolution in the way people use their phones.
This announcement has come a few months after Apple had announced the buildup of a new manufacturing unit in Arizona that would develop Sapphire. Sapphire is playing an instrumental role these days in the making of the portable devices. It is having the properties of being starch resistant and is better than glass in many ways. The hope of creation of new glass has created an anxiety among Apple fans but we have to wait and see what happens next.
