Most of the time you need an invite to buy a OnePlus One, but the company is feeling generous this holiday season and is letting you grab one without an invite. Pricing starts (as usual) at $300 and the phone will arrive by December 25 (so Santa won't be late).

The Smartphone Levels Up

The OnePlus One smartphone, made in China with limited availability overseas, hails itself as a "flagship killer." At $400 unlocked, the 5.5-inch phone has specs comparable to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8.

OnePlus is less than a year old, but its One smartphone has the potential to disrupt the industry thanks to its good performance and relatively low price.

CyanogenMod On Board

OnePlus also partners with CyanogenMod to put its Android booster software on the OnePlus. Don't worry — it still has access to Google services.

The 1080p screen of the OnePlus One measures 5.5 inches.

The top of the phone has the headphone jack.

The bottom has the microUSB port and the speakers, which aren't that great.

The customizable One smartphone from tech startup OnePlus has a pretty exclusive group of owners: Customers can usually only get their hands on one with an invite.
It seems that OnePlus is getting into the giving mood that sometimes comes with Christmas by offering its $300 smartphone up for grabs without an invite. It's not exactly clear when the offer expires, however, and it's only available while supplies last. On its website, OnePlus says that all orders will arrive by Christmas. So for people who have been aching for a OnePlus One, there's no time like the present.
The OnePlus One has gotten a considerable amount of fanfare for its highly customizable software. In Mashable's review, Brian Heater said that the smartphone is the best one can buy for the price.
The phone also has interchangeable covers that are sometimes made of real material, like denim or bamboo, but it also comes in artificial variants, including black sandstone and silk. The OnePlus One has a 5.5-inch, HD display, as well as 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage (64 GB for $349). The phone has 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, too. The backfacing 13-megapixel isn't too shabby — and it can take 4K videos — while the front-facing cameras has 5 megapixels.
