Apple is always surrounded by whispers and rumors of upcoming devices to wow the public. One of the most recent rumors is centered on a 12inch Retina MacBook that could be released in either the second or third quarter of 2014.
Ming Chi Kuo of KGI Securities is the man behind the latest fuel to the 12 inch Retina MacBook fire. The man who has successfully predicted the 3rd generation line of MacBook (shown to us in the form of the MacBook Pro) along with the discontinuation of the 17inch MacBook in 2012 says that the new MacBook design could “redefine laptop computing”. Judging by the effect that the MacBook Air had on laptop users several years ago, this notion is extremely feasible.
Kuo believes that the 2014 MacBook will be designed in a way that is lighter and thinner than the current MacBook Air. Using a high resolution retina display will mean that the slim MacBook will have the portability of an 11inch MacBook Air while having the functionality of the larger 13inch MacBook Air. Kuo also believes that the latest model will use an Intel Chip rather than the Apple Based A8 Processor. Another positive for the consumer apart from the updated spec of the future MacBook is that due to improved yield rates, there’s a good chance that it could be cheaper than the current Apple notebooks.
Kuo’s beliefs fall in place with other recent rumors that have been circulating recently. Reports have speculated that apple have been working on their displays which support 2304 x 1440 resolution. In addition to this, other rumors said that Apple are seriously considering the switch to IGZO for their displays. As IGZO are known for their leading technology for high resolution displays while using minimum power, all rumors seem to point in one direction.
