How To Take Better Pictures With GESTURES App For iPhone/iOS

For anyone who likes to take pictures with a phone, which is probably most of us, there comes a point when we realize that there are just too many buttons on the camera interface. There seems to be a button or icon for everything under the sun: flash, capture, gallery, settings, effects, front/rear camera, video camera, you get the point. While those settings are all nice in theory, sometimes we get tired of seeing them all; and sometimes, those tiny little buttons are really hard to reach.

 Add to that problem the fact that you have to usually go through multiple screens to change a simple setting only to find that while you were doing that you’ve missed out on the perfect photo. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a way to get rid of all of the useless buttons in favor of a much more simplified picture-taking approach? If you’ve ever found yourself thinking this, you are definitely not alone. I’d like to point you in the direction of the GESTURES camera app.

Let’s face it; sometimes you just want to take a picture without having to worry about 800 settings you can’t even begin to pretend to understand. With the GESTURES app, you can do just that. When you use the app to take a picture, pretty much all you see is the picture – there are no settings buttons anywhere in sight. When you do want to change a setting, instead of pressing a button, you just swipe with your fingers. Want to add a filter to your picture once it’s taken? No problem – just swipe your fingers up and down. There’s no longer any need to go to a separate app.

When it comes to actually taking the photo, all you have to do is press anywhere on the screen and it will capture the shot. The GESTURES app will automatically focus the picture and adjust the color settings giving you the best image possible. As far as speed goes, the GESTURES app is remarkably fast – it opens in a fraction of the time it takes similar apps to open, and that’s all because it doesn’t have to load tons of settings information.

And they all look and work the same. 
Instead of taking advantage of today's touchscreen capabilities to make our picture taking experience better at the fundamental level, many of them just shuffle around the buttons to differentiate themselves from their competitors...

Or try to one-up each other by piling on more and more gimmicks like stickers, backgrounds, frames, etc...

Or by adding more complex features and settings most of us don't really care for.

The only downside I can see to this app is that as of now it will only be available for iOS devices. Since I have a Galaxy S4 I guess I’ll have to wait a while.
The GESTURES app has just recently met its Kickstarter goal of $10,000. If they raise money over that amount, they will begin to implement GESTURES for Android.
