Microsoft recently announced the release of Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2 in an event held in New York. The Surface 2 comes with the Windows 8.1 RT, while the Surface Pro 2 comes with the Windows 8.1.

It was claimed by the chief of Surface Panos Panay that the new tablet could “help people get away from their iPad and be more productive”

The Surface 2 is much faster, lighter and is much thinner about 10.6-inches. It comes in black and silver colors with a Full HD display 1080p and with the Nvidia Tegra 4 ARM based processor. It is expected that it will contain the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip due to the relationship with Window Phones and Nokia, but Nvidia has been working with Window RT from the very start.

It is expected by Microsoft that the Surface 2 will give its users up to 10 hours of battery life and will most probably come with a 3.5-MP camera in the front and 5-MP camera at the back, plus there is also has the option for USB 3.0.

It was also stated by Panos Panay optimistically “We’ve added the Surface logo. You’re using a Surface; you want people to know you’re using a surface”. The Surface 2 comes with the Microsoft Office 2013 on its desktop but with the special version of Outlook 2013, the Outlook RT.

The price for the Surface 2 with the 32-GB is expected to be $500 and was released last month in September, While a 64-GB is also available at a price of $550. But it still is supposed to be released in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and US. While in China it is supposed to be released by early November. For other countries Microsoft still has to announce the release date.

The difference between the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2 is that it has a 20 % more speed compared to the Surface 2 as well as a much better quality graphic and sound.
