Despite garnering mostly negative reviews, Samsung claims it has sold 800,000 Galaxy Gear smartwatches in 2 months after the device hit the market, Reuters reports.
According to the report, which cites unnamed Samsung officials, Galaxy Gear sales exceeded Samsung's expectations. The company now plans to expand sales promotion for the Gear in time for the holidays.
"It's the most sold wearable watch available in the market place...and we plan to expand its availability by expanding mobile devices that work with the Gear," Samsung said in a statement.
In our review of the $299 smartwatch, we liked the look and feel and the quality of the screen, but we found it expensive and marred by compatibility issues and awkward charging.
Recently, Samsung has announced it will bring Galaxy Gear support to more smartphones.
