If you just can’t get enough of Assassin’s Creed on your home gaming console, there is a new version of the hit game coming to smartphones and tablets. Assassin’s Creed: Pirates will release on December 5, 2013, on both Android and iOS devices.

This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has released an Assassin’s Creed game on mobile devices, but the company may be far more successful with this installment. Riding on the waves of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, the mobile version of Pirates will allow gamers to rule the seas close to the time of the events that transpired in the Black Flag game. If advance praise means anything at all, this is looking to be a fun adventure.

Get Ready To Set Sail
This mobile game allows players to take on the role of  ship Captain Alonzo Batilla. Players will have to purchase and upgrade ships, fight naval battles, manage their crew, explore the sea(s), and add new pirates to their crews. Did I mention there’d be naval battles? You should probably expect several naval skirmishes. After all, what kind of a pirate game would it be if the cannonballs weren’t flying in every which direction?
After viewing the trailer of the game, this is one mobile game that does not look like a mobile game. In fact, it looks like it could seriously stand up next to its console big brother and give him a run for his gold.

Obviously, one can’t expect Xbox 360 or PS3 quality graphics on a phone, but Assassin’s Creed:
Pirates appears to do what only a few other mobile games have done, and that is to make you forget you’re using a smartphone or tablet in the first place. This is no doubt due in part to the new 3D engine that was created for Pirates.

You can try out your sea legs on 12/5/13 for a small $5 fee.
