Instagram
is a very popular social networking platform these days where people
talk through pictures rather than text messaging. It is a very unique
concept and people have started appreciating it to the optimum.
Instagram has been introducing many new features to its core in the last
few days.

The recent one has been “sending photos privately” to each
other. This feature has been embedded into Instagram in order to compete
with the likes of Snapchat and other competitors.
Another feature has entered
the core of instagram and that enables the users to delete any picture
that they have already sent from the recipient’s phone. This is a very
unique feature and did not exist in any of the social media before.
There are situations when you have already sent a picture to someone and
feel that it’s inappropriate. In these cases, the new feature of
instagram proves to be very useful. The pictures can be deleted from
recipient’s phone at any given time. However, this feature is not very
similar to that of Snapchat’s ephemeral photo messages. Therefore, on
Instagram the users will now be able to control and rectify their
operations instead of grieving about them later on. It will give a good
fat chance for the sender to improve his mistake and delete the picture
that they have sent and consider it inappropriate.
According to the reports
received until now, the new feature that has been installed in the
Instagram app will let the user exercise more control over his actions
as far as the deletion of photos is concerned. This control will be
heavier than that exercised by its rival Snapchat. The USP (Unique
selling proposition) of Snapchat is its ability not to leave a digital
paper trail and this is why people like it so much.

Instagram has been
evolving over the time and it has been introducing new features that are
giving a new outlook to the app. Another feature that has been recently
induced allows users to send pictures to as many as 15 people among the
Instagram accounts followed by them.
If the person sends some
message that is not intended to be delivered to the recipient, he can
set back and delete it any time he wants. This is the charm of the new
feature introduced by Instagram. Even if the photo has already been
viewed by the recipient, it can be deleted by the sender in order to
reduce the impact of the picture.
This app is still not perfect
for the people who like to delete the picture without any notification
being sent to the recipient. When the sender deletes the picture and
even if it is not read by the recipient, a notification goes to him
telling that a picture had been sent. However, when the recipient gets a
chance to click on the notification, the picture appears deleted. The
striking fact about this feature is that the sender can delete a picture
even while the recipient is viewing it.
In Snapchat too, the pictures
do not get destroyed totally without any notification being sent to the
recipient. The screengrabs of the picture remain in the system and
cannot be removed in either of the photo sharing apps. Instagram is
however not telling people to send pictures that would later be deleted.
The comment threads that are present on the pictures are a proof that
Instagram wants pictures to stay at the system and not get deleted.

Now Instagram has become a direct inbox system.
It is very similar to that of a facebook photo album. The major
advantage that is practiced by the user in Instagram is that he remains
in total control of the picture even when it is sent to the recipient.
The existence of the picture rests in the hands of the sender.
Instagram has displayed a
strong message by inducing this feature into the app and now it is clear
that the other platforms/apps on the internet will also embed similar
feature and remaining in control of pictures and data will become a
common concept soon. The concept of Snapchat is totally similar to that
of Instagram. It also offered facebook an offer to be sold earlier this
year. In Snapchat, the users are given a particular time to view the
pictures, similar to a countdown clock. Once the time is over, the users
cannot see it again.
Instagram has taken one step further in
terms of upgrading its features. Other social media apps do not offer a
feature where the sender can refrain back from his picture in order to
avoid being viewed. However, Microsoft Exchange possesses a similar
feature on a few servers but does not always offer the option to delete
the picture after having sent it.
