Users downloaded over 3 billion apps in the last month of 2013, making it the most successful month in the history of App Store.

Given that Apple gets 30 percent cut on each sale, Apple should have pocketed in $3 billion alone this way last year. Since 2008, developers have earned close to $15 billion on the App Store through sales. This translates into total sales of close to $21 billion.
“We’d like to thank our customers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store. The lineup of apps for the holiday season was astonishing and we look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services.
