While Samsung and HTC have produced smaller versions of their flagships in the past, they haven’t exactly been, well, impressive.

Sony took note of the consumer reaction and has delivered to us a true flagship under 4.5 inch real estate. The company has taken wraps off the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, which is a smaller version of the Xperia Z1 and is equally impressive and powerful.
The phone comes equipped with a 4.3 inch 720p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor. More interestingly, it comes equipped with the same 20.7MP sensor found on its elder sibling. Running on Android 4.3, the phone has been equipped with 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, microSD slot and a 2,300mAh battery. The phone shall soon be updated to Android 4.4.
The phone would be hitting worldwide markets next month. While the Xperia Z1 has a pretty stiff competition in the segment that it sits in, Xperia Z1 Compact has a real chance at success, given the lack of competitors in this segment. If priced rightly, it could even flock in some iPhone buyers, who don’t necessarily look for phones larger than their hands.
