The Bing Travel Beta for Windows Phone is a great looking app that offers users destination guides, hotel listings, trip ideas and even localised day-out suggestions. We’ve been checking it out on our Nokia Lumia 1520 and Nokia Lumia 520.

Find out more as we take a look at the Bing Travel Beta for Windows Phone.
Bing has launched some pretty amazing apps in recent months, from Bing News and Bing Weather to this brand new travel app. Sure, it’s still in Beta form but that means it will improve quickly. Not that it needs much improvement as it’s a great looking and easy to use app already.
Bing Travel Beta has been designed to bring you everything you need to plan a trip. It provides an excellent array of destination guides, user travel photos, expert reviews, daily trip ideas, hotel listings and much more, all from the convenience of your Nokia Lumia.

The opening page of the app gives you access to an array of flight and hotel information. From Arrivals & Departures, to Flight Status, Flight Search, to Hotel Search, it allows you to look for flights and places to stay as well as check out if flights are due to land or take off.

Swipe to the left and you’ll find a host of trip ideas from around the world tempting you to pack your bangs right away and hope on a plane.

Next up is the News page with such diverse sources as The Lonely Planet, The Guardian, to the Associated Press bringing together some great travels news, tips and tricks for making the most of your time away.

Destinations taps into the location of your Nokia Lumia and throws up suggestions in the immediate area for days out and even short breaks. What’s nice about the app is that you can add any of the features or locations you find to your Favourites page and they will then be listed so you can easily get access to them whenever you like.
In the Settings you can choose to set options for how you want things to be displayed – Miles or Kilometres, for example, or Celsius versus Fahrenheit.
The look and feel of the Bing Travel Beta for Windows Phone is stylish and slick and certainly loads quickly. We’ve been testing it out on our Nokia Lumia 1520 and Nokia Lumia 520 and found that it responds well on both devices – so you’ll know it’ll work on all variants of the Windows Phone 8 platform.
The app is still in Beta form largely due to the amount of data it contains at this time is rather limited. We’re hoping to see more travel information, for example, ported into the app to make it more widely universally useful.
Bing Travel Beta is a free 7MB download from the Windows Phone Store.
