Google has said it will not allow porn on its Chromecast. As well as releasing the Chromecast SDK, the company also issued the Terms of Service that developers are obliged to adhere to if they want their apps to be used on Chromecast.

One condition of the terms is that there be no explicit content.
The terms state: “We don’t allow content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material.”

As well as no porn, developers are required to include protections against screen burn-in and must not allow rooting of the device.

Google has stipulated in the terms that hate speech, violence, bullying and on-line gambling are not acceptable and any such content will be subject to “de-registration”, which presumably means the apps won’t work on Chromecast devices.
These new policies could prove to be a blow to Mindgeek, which was working on an Android app for Playboy TV that included the option to stream content to a Chromecast adapter. Following Google’s announcement, it is unlikely that Mindgeek will go ahead with the distribution of the app.
