Here’s all that has been revealed today. Our heads are still spinning with all the new info coming out, but there’s a lot more to come. Over on Twitter, @AngelWZR has shared a ton of new screenshots from Windows Phone 8.1. Check them out below.Starting off, if you were thinking Windows Phone might be left behind in the arms race against Android, now that the Galaxy S5 is almost certain to come with a QHD display, fear not. The update should bring support for multiple resolutions including 2K and qHD besides the already supported resolutions. While 2K will most certainly be used in flagships, qHD should help make the low end devices better. Moreover, Microsoft wants developers to design resolution-independent applications with a base resolution of 384×640, which can then be upscaled as per the need.
The navigation bar (on-screen buttons) that will be introduced on the newer generation of devices, will also be customizable, with options such as auto hide. It can also be made to match the accent color or the background, or remain dark.
Moving on, you’ll be able to project your screen on monitors and display, either through USB or wirelessly. Calender will get a new week view, along with a mini month view at the bottom right corner.
The update will also bring syncing of apps across Windows 8 and Windows Phone, something that should have been done earlier. A new Battery Sense will show which apps are drawing the most power.
Lastly, Facebook app is said to be built into the OS, but other social network apps will have to be installed.
That seem like just the tip of the iceberg and we’re hoping to learn a lot more about the update in the coming days.
