Users eagerly awaiting the launch of Windows Phone 8.1 handsets wouldn’t have to wait long it seems, as WPCentral reports that the OS has already been shipped to OEM partners.

The same was done on March 26th. What’s more, the report claims that devices running on the OS will start showing up on shelves starting April 23rd. We’re assuming these will be the Lumia 630, Lumia 930 and the Samsung ATIV SE.
Recently, it was reported that the development of the Windows Phone 8.1 core had finished. The OS was then sent to the secondary team to squash out more bugs and iron out the OS. We assumed that since the OS wasn’t completely ready in essence, it might still be some time before the OS was shipped to manufacturers. This would’ve meant further delay in the launch of products down the line, like it happened with Windows Phone 8. Fortunately, that shouldn’t be the case now. Although, we hope by the time Windows Phone 8.1 devices are out, the secondary team at Microsoft would’ve refined the OS further.
