After leaving nothing to imagination thanks to numerous leaks, Nokia finally took the wraps off the Lumia Icon for Verizon Wireless. The LTE device with Windows Phone 8 will be available in the carrier’s retail stores on February 20 for $199.99 with a two-year contract.

We’ve been hearing about the Lumia Icon since September last year, but for some reason Nokia hasn’t acknowledged the existence of the phone until now. Today, the phone has gone official, with a launch date of February 20th.
The phone is essentially a smaller version of the Lumia 1520 and is available exclusively for Verizon network in the US. It comes packing a 5.0 inch ClearBlack AMOLED display with 1080p resolution. The phone has been equipped with Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. Other specs are similar to the Lumia 1520, including 2GB RAM, 32 gigs of internal memory, 20MP camera with OIS and a 2,420mAh battery. Radios include LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, NFC and even FM radio. Unlike the Lumia 1520 for AT&T, the Icon also supports Qi wireless charging.
The phone in true sense, is the real competitor to the Galaxy S4, since it has a screen size that most consumers won’t find hard to fit in their pockets. However, with Nokia expected to announce new WP8.1 devices in a matter of months, the company might be late in bringing the device to the market. Still, we hope other countries get to see the phone too, since there’s not really any doppelganger of the device available elsewhere.
