This is something we had been waiting to happen from a very long time in Windows Phone and Windows 8.1. The new Bing Apps that were recently released for Windows Phone can sync data aback and forth i.e in simple words whatever you do on Windows 8 now shows upon Windows Phone 8 also and vice versa.
Bing News, Weather, Sports, Finance, Food and Drink, Travel, Health and Fitness apps once signed up with the same Microsoft account on both the platform will sync. There is one small gap though, you will need to signup 7 time, one each for every app, to make this happen. Though most of us would really wish that this was seamless but we haven’t reached there till now. If you been using Skydrive, you know you need to sign-in there too.

However we already have examples of seamless sign-in like the Microsoft Office account, Skydrive integrated in the OS for photo upload which don’t not require an extra step.
The latest ones in this league are Travel, Food & Drink and Health & Fitness where the last one includes three tracker including GPS tracker which tracks your walking in the background. I haven’t used it personally and yet to check out if the app needs to be running in background continuously and if yes, how often it updates the data.
