In its current form, it is quite easy for anyone to extract information including user’s profile picture, time last seen online and your status on WhatsApp. But soon your exes won’t be able to stalk on you, since new privacy changes on the upcoming WhatsApp update for Android addresses these issues.
Version 2.11.169 will enable users to hide the above information from either everybody, or people not in their contacts, or no one. iOS has had the feature to hide the time stamp for a while now, but the other two security features are completely new. Other improvements include fixed mute option bug, which will no longer show muted conversations in the notifications.
You can now also pay the subscription fee for a friend. The amount remains the same, $1 for one year, implying Facebook is in no hurry to recover its costs. The update hasn’t hit the Play Store yet, but you can download the APK from WhatsApp’s official site here.
