Until now, phones like the Nokia Lumia 520 have enjoyed dominance at the entry level segment in India due to the absence of a strong competitor from the Android stables. Although, that has just changed today thanks to Motorola.

The company has launched its Moto G in the country. Since the company quit the Indian market sometime ago, it will be retailing the phone exclusively through Indian e-retailer Flipkart. The 8GB model will be available for Rs 12,499 ($200), while the 16GB and the model of our choice (since it lacks a microSD slot) will go on sale for Rs 13,999 ($225).
Don’t let the price fool you, since Moto G is no slacker. Probably the last phone from Motorola under the Google umbrella is worthy of being called a game changer. The phone packs a 4.5 inch 720p display, a quad core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB RAM, Gorilla Glass protection and a 2,070mAh battery. The phone also packs a 5 megapixel rear shooter and a 1.3MP front one. It will be sold in the dual SIM variant in India and comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, something you definitely won’t get on other phones in this bracket.
Since Motorola has no presence in India, Motorola has listed all the service centers that will cover the Moto G on its website. We expect more service centers in the future, once the sale to Lenovo is complete. At this price, we can’t really think of a better deal. Guess, our monthly list of best smartphones is getting a new champion.
