It seems like we’ve been provided with a sea of information about the Windows Phone 8.1, so that when the actual time comes, there might not be much that won’t be known already. More information regarding the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update has surfaced thanks to the SDK, giving more insight into what can we expect from the update.

To begin with, if you’ve always thought that a background wallpaper might look nice on the Start Screen, WP8.1 might just allow that. The implementation isn’t exactly known, but it could be either the Live Tiles on the background in the same accent color, or the second probable way could be to use the Live Tiles as pieces of the picture, with the background still dark or ligh (which according to us would look better than the former).
The update will also bring Office Lens tot he platform,  which will allow to scan office documents. The update will also give users the ability to open password protected office documents. Seems like Nokia would also be giving away its double tap to wake feature to the OS, allowing other manufacturers to implement it. There are also talks about tap to power off feature, but how its implemented along with the other one shall be seen.
Other notable features include auto update apps, chkdsk for SD card, backups including app data and quiet hours, that will disable notifications when turned on.
IE11 will see some major changes as well. Besides allowing uploading files, users will finally be able to access downloads folder.  Also, MP3 files will now directly be downloaded to the Music folder.
The update is rumored to start hitting the devices starting June. Although, anyone with an App Studio account will be able to get early access from April.
