Windows Phone 8.1 Separate Volume Controls Leak: New Screenshot

Expectations are pretty high from the Windows Phone Blue update at the moment and seems like Microsoft is working round the clock to meet those expectations.

Today, a new screenshot of the upcoming update was leaked that showed separate volume controls for ‘Media + apps’ and ‘Ringer + notifications’. The screenshot is in Chinese, so we’ve translated the text of course. On the bottom left, one can spot an icon to toggle the Silent mode, while on the right is an icon that takes you to the settings menu.
What’s more, the control won’t appear in the exact same sequence every time, but would be contextual. Say, if you’re in an app, the ‘Media +apps’ would have a higher priority over ‘Ringer + notifications’.
Of course, this is a small change, but nonetheless an important one. It is these small things that although not noticed, but impact the user experience considerably.
